In a move to keep REALTORS® positioned for success into the future while ensuring NAR no longer needs to use reserves to cover expenses, the NAR Board of Directors approved a budget that sets national dues at $150 per year per member beginning in 2019.
That’s a $30 increase. That increase will fund programs such as the new Commitment to Excellence professionalism initiative, the popular zipForm benefit—used by 80% of Texas REALTORS®—and independent expenditures and issues mobilization initiatives for state and local associations.
Realtors have already written to to NAR expressing their Opinion, which was 99% negative. I’m sure these opinions were not taken into consideration, or you might have realized how unhappy REALTORS were with your proposal. Still you continued with your decision to raise our dues, by $30.00 per REALTOR. Most of us feel you could have at least cut that fee in half. I read in some of NAR’s material about “transparency”, jeez I could not find a single NAR budget posted on their web site. All any financials said was a breakout of just one memebers dues, not what is the TOTAL budget and where the money really goes to. So I pulled up the IRS nonprofit filing, see below. NAR in 2016 brought in $223m from all sources and salaries are $56m of the expenses up $2.5m from the year before. Raising the NAR dues is a definite and complete RIP OFF!! I have personally have not received any benefits from NAR I think it is disgusting to try to rape the members by continuing to increase their dues.
